About

Being and Thought is a casual, personal attempt to align different aspects of the sciences and arts, making connections between seemingly unrelated ideas.

The site is mainly an assembly of short essays exploring philosophy, literature, science and more. Each essay has a drawing related to its theme, along with accompanying art and music. The library holds brief descriptions of the books and works the essays refer to, and the timeline shows how the site has grown.

Who makes it

Being and Thought is written and maintained by Joe Speed. You can get in touch at joespeed@beingandthought.com.

Tools

Locus is an open source tool from Being and Thought that finds citations to Plato and Aristotle in a piece of writing, checks that each one points to a passage that exists, and links the valid ones to the text.
