These drawings were made as part of a desire to develop a skill I have always admired. They've become an extra step in putting a project or essay together - one that I’ve come to really enjoy. Lately, I’ve also found myself more drawn to art in general, which has made the process feel even more rewarding.
I have found it easy to become reliant on AI-generated images, especially when the writing of an essay already takes some time. You can become complacent and conjure up a theme-related image in a few minutes. And so, in a way, this is my own small stand against the rising tide of automated, AI-generated images.
Thanks for taking a moment to look.
Drawing is a versatile cognitive tool that engages various brain regions including the visual cortex, motor cortex and memory systems. This engagement has led researchers to link drawing to supporting communication, learning and memory through complex processes of perception and social cognition.
Drawing in some ways appears fundamental, in that our brains possess an innate ability to draw. The neuroscience suggests that anyone with a healthy, working brain has within them the capacity to draw and that, more importantly, it is a worthwhile skill to develop.
